When Thoreau used a leaf to draft material for more than one purpose, the leaf is listed in each category or title. The location of each leaf is given at the end of its entry. Seven leaves are associated with the 1906 Manuscript Edition of The Writings of Henry David Thoreau, for which a leaf of MS was tipped into the first volume of each set. Six of these leaves are still in place in the first volume of the set; one has been removed and is stored separately.
